Babybuds® Matches Demand for Convenience with Innovative and Unique Baby Gifts

Melbourne, Australia, June 22, 2011 --( PR.com )-- Babybuds, Australia’s leading online provider of baby gifts, now offers innovative and unique baby gifts that transcend the typical flowers and designer baby clothes that many first time mothers receive upon the birth of their first child. By combining the convenience of online shopping with quality, unique and innovative gifts, Babybuds gives consumers alternatives and convenience, both of which time strapped consumers are in need of these days. Babybuds offers gifts that span the maternity period, for baby showers, to the postnatal gift giving period, and through to mother’s day gifts and all of babies special occasions. Not only are these gifts unique, the presentation is innovative and often reminiscent of the traditional bouquets of flowers that mothers receive in the hospital from well-wishers. Online shopping is a fast growing trend in Australia, as consumers desperately search for a way to give a gift that has meaning, when there is little to no time to go to each individual shop one by one. Shops offering online convenience with high quality products are quickly becoming the pre-eminent source in their respective niches. Babybuds serves the baby gift niche proudly and with unparalleled distinction and creativity. Knowledge, convenience and selection often come from the cost-savings that are available to online retailers as they are not obligated to maintain a physical presence on the high-street. “Consumers are currently flocking to online shops as the credibility, convenience, variety and reasonable pricing of online shopping becomes more well-known,” says Charmaine Papallo, owner of Babybuds. “At Babybuds, we are dedicated to bringing outstanding and beautifully created gifts of distinction and practicality to our consumers,” continued Papallo. Babybuds, begun in 2002, is the brainchild of Charmaine Papallo. As a business that vows to bring convenience to all of their customers, Babybuds fills a gap in the market for people who want to pamper and surprise the new mother, while still providing something practical that the new parents will use. As first time mother herself, Christine received many gifts of flowers and cute, yet impractical, baby clothes. It was shortly after this, when she took the decision to stay at home, rather than return to her fast-paced corporate law career, that Charmaine founded Babybuds.

Table, the buffet labels, chocolate bar wrappers and other printables for the event.

Catherine had been hoping to travel to Sydney for the taping of the Oprah show. She and her sisters, Leah, Bronwyn and Diane, had been watching the show since they were all teenagers. “My sisters and I are all fans of Oprah,” Diane said. “But, you know, Catherine is the Ultimate Viewer.” The sisters were thrilled when they discovered Oprah was coming Down Under, but there was just one problem: Catherine was nine months pregnant. “We were devastated when we found out that Oprah’s taping was the day before Catherine was due to have her Cesarean,” Leah said. “Catherine was prepared to put off her Cesarean with the hope that she might be able to get tickets… we said, ‘It’s not happening.’”

Instead, the sisters set out to get Oprah to come to them. Producers read an email the sisters sent, and together, they hatched a plan to surprise Catherine. The sisters planned a fake shopping trip with Catherine to a chic Melbourne baby boutique, Bébé, where Oprah waited in the back, ready for the big reveal. The shop’s owners Kelly and Carey were in on the secret as hidden cameras captured the surprise. When Oprah walked out to “assist” the sisters with their shopping, Catherine was speechless. We’re surprised she didn’t go into labor right there! The surprise got even better when Oprah revealed a baby shower in the back of the store.

The boutique was transformed by Sharnel and her team into a pink-themed party, complete with flowers, candies and desserts. Special guests, including Catherine’s husband Glenn and her best friend Melinda, make the party picture-perfect. When it came time for gifts, Oprah did not disappoint, as she presented Catherine with items for a new nursery, including a crib, changing table and toys, as well as a new high chair and stroller.
